RHS Style and Development Sketches

When working with a new text deciding on an illustration style can be a challenge.
Below are some of my experiments with loose movement and anatomy sketches, colour samples and more resigned drawings on found wrapping paper. The aim was to compare and contrast each style and its variations to see which would be suit my new text.

Removal of the horse anatomy to show the geometric pattern beneath.
A sample of the recycled wrapping paper that I drew on. I got this from the New Edition Bookshop (Fremantle)when I bought a novel - they were nice enough to gift wrap the book for me.
A study of how geometric shapes and tone can interact with the horse's anatomy.
